Produce update

If anyone is following our status on the stink bug trap, here are the results: Don't waste your time. The trap didn't catch one stinkbug.  Light is not effective at trapping them from outside. There is a pheromone trap (http://www.rescue.com/product/reusable-outdoor-stink-bug-trap) due to pop on the market this month.  As soon as I can find a store that will let us pre-book it, I will.

Over the past few days, the bounty has been plentiful. We would have had a nice big fat tomato today, but a few bugs decided to dine on it before us. Deb harvested two butternut squashes today. Our pumpkin that is suspended 5 feet in the air is starting to get little dots of orange pigment.

I am watching a certain zucchini squash plant. I noticed an adult squash vine borer on it. I'm paying close attention to the stem. I'm not 100% certain yet, but it may have a borer inside. I've dealt with them before, and it is usually not a death sentence for the plant. You simply cut the stem lengthwise, remove the worm, then bury the stem to let it root out and repair the cut.
